What is EEG Biofeedback (Neurofeedback)
The objective of Biofeedback (Neurofeedback) therapyis to significantly reduce (by up to 70–90%), and in some cases
completely eliminate, the symptoms by using the mechanisms of conscious
regulation of the selected brain waves.
The basic concept of the EEG Biofeedback therapy is to gain
permanent ability to achieve the state of physiological equilibrium by
increasing the generation of the desired brain waves, and by damping
the obsolete ones.
Before starting the therapeutic session we perform a number of diagnostic tests to determine which brain waves are too many, and which are too few, in each brain region. The training is similar to a play during which the trained person follows a video game which he or she controls by the power of his or her own brain activity. The energy of brain waves of the trained person is processed into the course of the video game. The therapist follows the brain wave function of the trained person, promoting the good waves and at the same time damping the obsolete ones. When the patient’s brain activity in a given range increases, then the game advances, and the computer rewards the patient with points signalled by a sound. It allows to learn one’s own brain reactions and to modify its function. The trained person can purposefully reverse the incorrect course of the brain waves, thus achieving the optimum physiological equilibrium, free of strain or stress, and obtaining an improvement in his or her health condition.
Research has shown that the effects of the training are long lasting, completely safe and, contrary to medication, the training has no side effects.
